Clinical Use

The Intermitting Suction Regulator may be used in acure care areas where nasogastic suctioning may be indicated. In CONTIN mode, normal regulator function with excellent control of vacuum is available. In the INTERMIT mode, alternate suction and venting to atmosphere are provided automatically. With the collection unit mounted above the patient, the large venting ports in the Intermittor periodically reverse the flow in the catheter, to assist in clearing catheter ports. Absence of this fluid dynamic can cause tissue damage and patient discomfort.

Description

The new 3704 Intermitting regulator incorporates all of the new features of our new 3700 series and adds an intermitting module. The module has three positions, Off, INTERMIT, and CONTIN. For added safety, there is no LINE function so that full vacuum cannot accidentally be applied to the patient. The 3704 also has our 10 year warranty on all parts and labor. The easy to view gage allows wide angle viewing and can be read from a 180o field of vision, eliminating parallax in viewing. The self cleaning gauge, comprised of only 3 moving parts, ensures low repair costs. By design, there is no calibration. The gauge can be assembled/disassembled in less than a minute.

Boehringer Laboratories’ Intermitting Suction Regulators give the clinician the advantage of intermitting suction capability in a more compact body. The 3704 is a true intermitter, supplying vacuum and atmospheric pressure alternately, and incorporates the high flow characteristics which have made Boehringer Suction Regulators outstanding for vacuum regulation under high flow conditions. These same flow characterisitcs allow very rapid atmospheric venting for clearing the catheter tip.

The advanced shifting module provides a unit that is tolerant of water, sputum and blood, in case of canister overflow. In most cases, water purging will be all that is required to reestablish operation. The timing valve is completely separate from bodily fluids and filtered from external air.

Concern about cross contamination and infection control has led us to design Suction Regulators that can be terminally sterilized. The Model 3704 Intermitting Suction Regulator can be disassembled and reassembled for cleaning and sterilization in minutes. The units can be safely sterilized by steam, Cidex, EtO or Sterrad without damage.

Warranty Information

We guarantee the 3700 series suction regulator parts and labor for ten years. We will replace free of charge any part that fails on our 3700 series suction regulator for ten years from date of purchase.
